One of the founding principles of the United States is the concept of freedom. Freedom of speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of the Press are the cornerstones of our society and are enshrined in our Bill of Rights. People from all over the world have sought freedom in the United States for different reasons: economic, religious, social, et al, and have adapted to our society…and our society has adapted to newcomers. People within the United States have had to fight for their rights as well; such as abolitionists fighting slavery, women fighting for the right to vote, African Americans pressing for equal treatment under the law and immigrants demanding fair working conditions. American history is full of struggle and achievement, reminding us that “Freedom is not Free.” When the inherent and inalienable rights of people are protected and advanced, American and, indeed, global society leap forward to a better state of human affairs. Let Freedom Ring!

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Draw a picture depicting freedom, the struggle for it, and/or its triumph.
