Oferta acestei săptămâni este următoarea:
 1) Mignon F. Ballard - The angel and the Jabberwocky murders: an Augusta Goodnight mistery (with heavenly recipes)

Augusta Goodnight, heavenly sleuth and guardian angel, is a welcome boarder with longtime resident Lucy Nan Pilgrim in the seemingly tranquil town of Stone’s Throw, South Carolina. And Augusta’s divine intervention is needed now more than ever. The local college is the kind of safe place where students don’t even lock their doors. At least it used to be, until girls started mysteriously disappearing.
When the body of another student, D. C. Hunter, is found in a shed by the lake, Lucy and Augusta must race to figure out if her murder is connected to the deaths of two other girls. Should Augusta focus on the English professor who was having an affair with D.C.? Or on the seemingly cheerful caretaker who happened to discover two of the bodies? And what is the meaning of the “Jabberwocky” clues that keep turning up around campus?

2) Beatrice Sparks, Ph. D. - Annie's Baby: The diary of Anonymous, a pregnant teenager

When Annie discovers she's pregnant by her boyfriend, she's devastated. She has never felt so alone. With no one she can talk to, she pours her heart out to her diary, confiding her feelings of panic, self-doubt, and the desperate hope that some day she can turn her life around. She decides she wants to keep her baby and dreams of loving and caring for this little person. But after the baby is born, it's in her diary that she faces the agonizing question: Can she really raise this child on her own?

3) John Calvin Batchelor - Father's Day

In 2003, President Ted Jay has invoked the 25th Amendment to the Constitution--Presidential vacancy, disability and inability--temporarily transferring power to his Vice President, T.E. (Shy) Garland. But five months later, when the Chief Executive attempts to reclaim the reins of power, Garland refuses to step aside, setting in motion a bloody and ruthless plot that will tear America in two.

Teach like an American with Peace Corps

Volunteer-made lessons now online!

23 Jan. 2013

Bucharest — American Peace Corps volunteers in Romania have put a wealth of English-teaching resources on Internet, making them available for teachers in Romania and around the world.
Their site is called “” and to date the volunteers have posted more than 200 lesson plans, activities for spurring student creativity, and guidebooks for teachers.
Peace Corps volunteers have been serving in Romania since 1991, and one of their key jobs is teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). Volunteers partner with Romanian English teachers across the country, teaching English classes and giving students access to native speakers. Currently, there are 45 volunteers serving in Romania.
Using Peace Corps’ communicative method to teaching English, volunteers have developed their own English teaching resources ranging from lesson plans to worksheets to a classroom management guidebook.
In 2011, Peace Corps decided to begin a gradual process of ending the program in Romania. A small group of volunteers wanted to be sure these resources would continue to be useful, so they created for sharing them with the public at large.
There are many TEFL sites on the Web, but most of them assume a different cultural context than Romania, whereas these lessons and resources were developed by native speakers in collaboration with Romanian teachers for use here in Romania.
